About Us

The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA AMERICAS) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit association formed in 1997 to tackle the multi-billion dollar problem of cargo thefts from supply chains. It is a coalition of manufacturers, shippers, carriers, insurers, service providers, law enforcement, and government agencies. Our members represent every type of company or organization facing cargo crime within the transportation supply chain.

TAPA AMERICAS is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and managed by a full-time Executive Director. (Click here to meet our Board of Directors.)

TAPA AMERICAS Rolls Out Freight Brokers Security Requirements (FBSR) Standard

The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA AMERICAS) is pleased to announce the official launch of its new Freight Broker Security Requirements (FBSR) Standard, a significant framework aimed at enhancing security measures across the freight brokerage industry. This new framework establishes a vital benchmark for safeguarding high-value cargo and minimizing supply chain risks in a growingly complex logistics environment.

Designed specifically for brokers who arrange transportation without owning physical assets, the FBSR provides a structured, tiered approach to implementing security protocols that align with the needs of shippers and carriers.

TAPA AMERICAS Launched Law Enforcement Grant Program

In May of 2025, TAPA AMERICAS launched a Law Enforcement Grant Program support law enforcement agencies through education and training, thereby enhancing their ability to prevent and reduce cargo theft. TAPA achieves its mission through the development and application of global security standards, recognized industry best practices, technology, education, benchmarking, regulatory and law enforcement collaboration, and the proactive identification of crime trends and supply chain security threats. Key to TAPA’s mission is the critical work done by law enforcement agencies and active law enforcement personnel. The TAPA LE Grants will help fund professional training and education for these groups that would otherwise be cost prohibitive.
