Cargo Theft Research Grant Program

The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Americas is dedicated to minimizing cargo losses throughout the global supply chain. TAPA fulfills this mission through the development and implementation of internationally recognized security standards, industry best practices, technology, education, benchmarking, regulatory collaboration, and the proactive identification of cargo crime trends and emerging supply chain security threats.

To further this mission, the TAPA Americas Cargo Theft Research Grant Program sponsors applied research that addresses critical challenges facing the supply chain security industry. The program supports projects that generate evidence-based findings, practical tools, innovative technologies, and actionable frameworks that enhance cargo theft prevention, detection, investigation, and recovery.

Research funded through this program is intended to benefit TAPA members, law enforcement, government agencies, academic institutions, and the broader supply chain security community. Priority will be given to projects that demonstrate measurable industry impact, encourage collaboration between academia and practitioners, and produce deliverables that can be translated into real-world security improvements.

As a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association, TAPA Americas relies on the generous support of corporate sponsors, industry partners, foundations, and individual donors to fund these research initiatives. Contributions directly support independent research that advances supply chain security, strengthens public-private partnerships, informs policy and industry standards, and helps protect the movement of goods across the global supply chain.

Through strategic investment in research, TAPA Americas seeks to expand the industry’s understanding of cargo theft, foster innovation, and provide stakeholders with the knowledge and resources necessary to reduce cargo crime and build more resilient supply chains.
